 Em 30 de maio de 2008 a tripulação do navio filipino Kickapoo Belle resgatou os tripulantes do veleiro argentino Ilikai na costa gaúcha. A operação levou 3 horas, conforme relatou ao Popa.com.br nesta semana o comandante do navio Capt Rolando Dulay.

O Kickapoo Belle navegava do Rio de Janeiro para Callao, no Peru, via Estreito de Magalhães, transportando aço, informou o capitão. Com Tramandaí no través, o navio atendeu o mayday do Ilikai, que navegava a 25 milhas náuticas.

Well rcvd your email message thanks, with regards to
your inquiry the camera man is the 4/Eng Glenn Escalera, and mostly entire
crew was on hand in good
cooperation how to help the 2 men from ILIKAI
We are 25 miles from there position when we recd their May day in VHF,
vessel was outbound from Rio
De Janeiro with steel product bound to Callao,Peru
via Magellan strait
Vessel at manuevering speed,slow down and took us
3 hours to rescue the 2 personnel from sailing boat
it was May 30, 2008,The nationality of 2 crew are Argentina, and they have
to abondon their sailing boat
due to adverse weather,impossible to tow
